Victor is the brain child of digital marketing innovator Clive Jackson, founder and CEO of London based agency Global Beach.
Jackson the owner of a prestigious home in Mallorca, which he visits regularly, became increasingly frustrated by the hassle involved in having to fly from congested airports on low cost airlines each time he visited the island. He initially canvassed support for his jet sharing idea among Mallorca residents via his research portal 'flyingmallorca.com'.
Encouraged by the level of support, and enlightened by his own research into the private jet charter business, he identified the potential for an online trading platform which would bring together people interested in buying seats on a private jet with the network of private jet operators across Europe and the significantly under-utilised jet capacity that exists in the aviation industry.
Jackson comments, "From the outset it was clear there was significant demand among residents and visitors for this service. I also received a lot of support from the local press and the Fomento del Turismo and quickly established the support of several hundred interested travellers.
The challenge was to develop the smart technology and trading platform that could cater for it efficiently. It's taken the best part of a year but that is what we now have in Victor."
The business model and Victor brand were revealed for the first time, and with strong approval, at focus group sessions in late 2010 and early 2011, comprised of pre-registered Victor members in both Palma and London. Similar positive reactions followed from prestigious partners in Mallorca such as luxury hotels and resorts, Michelin-star restaurants, country clubs and upmarket property companies.
